Biography

Zimei is an Associate Professor at School of Pharmacy, University of Auckland, New Zealand (NZ). She hold a PhD from University of Otago and a Masters degree at China Pharmaceutical University (CPU). In 1999, she came to NZ and worked at School of Pharmacy, University of Otago as a visiting scholar and then Research Fellow where she later on conducted her PhD and 4 years postdoctoral research. In 2009, Dr Wu was appointed as a lecturer at Auckland School of Pharmacy, where she has established NZ first research platform on ‘tumour targeted delivery’. She also researches transdermal delivery with successful stories featured on NZTV3 (2015). Her research on ‘liposomes’ has attracted wide collaborations (Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre, a number of universities in China including CPU), and $NZ1.6M in contestable research funding. She was a recipient of NZ-China Scientist Exchange Award from the Royal Society of NZ.

A/Prof Wu currently co/supervises 9 PhD and masters and has supervised to completion 24 PhD and Masters students, and mentored 3 postdoctoral researchers. One of the PhD theses was made to the “Dean’s List’. She has 90 papers on peer-reviewed journals including Journal of Controlled Release, Biomaterials, and Drug Delivery (h-index 20) and 5 book/chapters, and an inventor of 15 patents. She has been invited/keynote speakers at 13 conferences and an Editorial Board member for Journal of Liposome Research and Pharmaceutical Development and Technology. Dr Wu serves on the Faculty’s International Committee, and is the immediate Past President of NZ Chapter of Controlled Release Society (www.nzcrs.org.nz).
